Just take the EGR off please : ) I have had it off for years on my Z and its a daily driver. Its NOT going to be a problem. Also on less thing to go wrong. Just think about replacing a bad EGR valve with the motor in, not a pretty sight.

2)and this from ashe>>>
The EGR only allows exhaust gases to re-enter engine when you are cruising. It is closed at idle and at WOT. It is used to lower combustion chamber temps on those long, RPM steady cruises. It doesn't do much for detonation because an engine wont detonate while cruising unless there are other detrimental factors at work such as low octane fuel or large amounts of oil are entering the combustion chamber. Detonation usually occurs at WOT and in this case the EGR is closed. Buy the EGR tube to connect the manifold to the valve, it is only like $12.

So anyone else knowledgeble on the topic wanna throw in their 2 cents?? please do... im very curious about the bypass of the valve.

Working On a full rebuild, Hmmm how long will that take? Debut Projected No later than October 8th... Maybe some time to run with T-tops Off!
